594293 2007-09-24 03:51:00 I can't really help with an intelligent answer as the problem has never cropped up with me.

For a bit of levity....

How about importing 2 or 3 teenage boys. Guarantee never to have the door shut long enough to let things get to cold.

This is based on my "once was a teenage boy" who at nearly 34yrs still opens the door and looks in the fridge when visiting!!

594294 2007-09-24 06:00:00 Your local F&P service agent should have a replacement thermostat, they are a breeze to fit (as with one that "young" it will be a "like-for like" type,

I have recently replaced the thermostats in both our fridges here. From memory they were in the $45 - $60 range. One was a generic replacement as the fridge was a lot older, that was not as straightforward as the later one.

Make an exact note of the make and model as thermostats differ between models.

In Christchurch, Saxon Appliances sell them.

594297 2007-09-24 11:11:00 Sounds like rubbish. The fridges that is.
My house has been 7 degrees inside on a cold morning.
Never had freezing food, yes we have had to adjust the butter warmer slightly but thats it.
Of course I have an old fridge.........probably from when they made them properly.Yeah - since they did away with butter conditioners, the build quality and reliability has gone downhill bigtime! I was told by Ralph Roberts (when he still had his shop in Takapuna) that butter conditioners were done away with by F&P when they started manufacturing (in Aussie?) for the Aussie market. Apparently no need for them there... :)

Yeah..the Aussies get fresh butter from the kangaroos there anyway...no need to store it in refrigeration. :waughh:
