Second, I can't wait till WMG comes on and tried to tell us how GFX cards are completely un-important even though apparently all Macs can do is graphics etc. See how he blames this one on PC's and MS:lol:

see how he hasn't posted yet:rolleyes:

592943 2007-09-20 06:22:00 Isn't this getting all a bit silly?

You guys are now deliberately trying to outdo each other with the Mac/Windows baiting and even taking it to a personal level. PF1 is filling up with those sorts of posts, not a good look. :groan:

If Winmacguy has any sense he will completely ignore this thread and not respond in the predictable manner to which you are all waiting.

Find something else to entertain yourself please.

592945 2007-09-20 08:15:00 Well then, people should not use the thread as a tool to deliberately bait another member.

This thread will be locked if that is its only purpose.

592946 2007-09-20 10:53:00 Ok, lets talk about why Apple seems to put such bad and under-powered cards in its top of the line system. I mean for the price you pay, I'd expect like 2 8800 GTX Ultras or something. beeswax34 (63)

Good question?
I would presume and these are only my thoughts, The cards apple use are not the best for gaming, well thats probably everyones thoughts:D
The mac pro is not a gaming system, well no mac's are. Maybe these cards are more suited to things like motion, more of a workstation vid card.
Photoshop is not a program that needs a good graphics card as far as I am aware.
The only people that complain about the GPU seems to be gamers.
Are any of the cards apple offer in the mac pro any good for gaming?
NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MB,ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB.
As for the original article they started reviewing imac's, which was fine but in the review they make mention of the 17 inch imac that is no longer available in the same paragraph as the new imacs just released.
So for a journalist to make such a simple mistake, it makes me wonder about the rest of his comments

592948 2007-09-20 12:12:00 That article is pretty weird. The conclusion is a bit sudden and doesn't seem to match the rest of the review. It seems to rate Macs solely on the graphics card, but doesn't go into how it uses that card - i.e., the applications that use it etc. A PC is not the graphics card (unless you are a gamer). vinref (6194)

and that would be why pctek linked to the end of the article.

Yep .

Still, they want to increase their market share, then perhaps it should be something they look at .
