| 592712 | 2007-09-19 19:18:00 | Interesting to note in that article it says This is somewhat different than saying that Microsoft has sold 60 million licenses of Vista to customers. This just means that there are 60 million copies of Vista sitting on showroom shelves waiting to be sold. Heavens above wacniymug.... every thread I look at you are there making stupid vindictive inane comments. This was a thread with a bit of humour in it till you came along and bu..ered it up. Why don't you go away and count your postings. Ken |

Point taken, but what of the "stupid" word . Surely that fits the bill . He reminds me of a cracked record! Ken |

| 592715 | 2007-09-20 06:32:00 | The vast majority of new OS's are shipped pre-loaded with PC's, the "stand alone" retail market for OS's is relatively small in comparison . The licences shipped will refer to the licences sold in reality, the numbers of "copies of Vista on the shelf" would be a lot less than the number of PC's with licences allocated (both for PC's sold and on stock awaiting sale) . I went to Vista mainly because I updated the hardware, the old PC was . . . old . Vista performs just fine, I would not want to change back to XP (or ME) as I have no reason to . Obviously people in the mainstream will be perfectly happy with their present OS, and until they replace their hardware whatever version they have will remain . I fail to see what the hysteria is about . It is only an operating system, its not a life changing event . |

I read "shipped" as being different from copies actually sold to customers. MS can ship 100 million copies of Vista to OEMs and stores if they want (it looks good on the accountant's books) - but it remains to be seen whether enterprise or customers will actually buy those 100 million copies or if they do buy PCs with Vista, whether they re install XP on them. |

| 592719 | 2007-09-20 07:12:00 | Oh man, they should go right back to Windows 3.11. It really rockets on the latest PCs. I wonder how many partitions on a 200 Gig SATA 2 hard drive MSDOS 3.3 will need? When was the last time someone wrote a game for msdos 3.3? You update when you need to. |

| 592720 | 2007-09-20 09:26:00 | I know what you guys are saying and I probably went a bit over the top... But, the original post and reference URL were a joke. Or, can't you see that? Winmacguy should save his propaganda for serious threads where people can bash him to their hearts content! Goodness me, at this rate he will soon be contaminating Billy T's joke pages, Heaven forbid. That is what I am saying. Ken |

Ken Don't worry kenny I got the joke  and I thought it was a pretty good one hence my April 1st reference. It was also a bit of an ironic article considering all the bad press that Vista has been receiving since its release which is why I highlighted the difference between Vista copies shipped vs Vista copies actually sold as discussed in the article. |
