You can pick up a 27.5" Viewsonic VX2835WM with a better panel (quicker response times, and it looks gorgeous) for like $1160... ...whereas a 27" Dell with coupons is still $1399. (I do like that the Dell monitors don't include speakers though -- those things make monitors look a bit crummy and usually sound awful) Both are good enough for 1080 HDTV though :) If it wasn't so ugly, it maybe a contender, but the dell ones also come with a 5 year warranty option. |

A quicker panel does not equal a better one unless you're a gamer . This one's being used for photo editing, so he would be much better off with the Dell which has a PVA panel from all accounts, rather than the crummy TN panel in the Viewsonic . TN's have the fastest response, but worst viewing angle & colour reproduction IPS are slower, but have best viewing angle & colours . PVA's are somewhere in between :) |

| 592285 | 2007-09-19 06:24:00 | Why would anyone want to buy anything from dell? Regardless of price. Junk dealers! I would agree for desktops. However their laptops are quite good and reliable. Their premium monitors are also recommended as good quality, and frankly I don;t know a manufacturer that can meet the specs and features of this monitor for the price, and with a 5 year warranty. You can't really go wrong when you have a 5 year warranty. |

But their Ultrasharp monitors are pretty much top of the line unless you want to pay really big bucks for a good screen. The one I got was on special which was the main reason I got it. The normal price was more than I was willing to pay for a monitor. |
