2007-10-06 21:52:00 | Climate change is irrelevant now the ABs lost to France. I reckon all the hot air off talkback shows and forums will contribute to a dramatic and catastrophic temperature rise in the south pacific. (then again - it could be summer approaching). Ps - why pick articles from the Guardian? That's a left wing nonsense newspaper. Of course they'll be endorsing the global warming theory.

2007-10-06 21:56:00 | The problem is how to stop more being born and reduce the poulation to about 2 billion. Unfortunately, the only way that will happen is through a rapid, drastic disaster. Wars over diminishing resources are inevitable. I know that sounds negative but I think it's being realistic. Some people insist the world can support over 10 billion. I don't think so. And even if it could, why would we want to live like that?

I thnki you are right...The PF1 Froum servers were crashing during the rush of posting on AB's....can you imagine the Quad Core servers kicking in from sleep mode and suckin extra wattage and their CPU fans rising in RPM....PF1 is contributing to rise in Global Warming Temps :D |

2007-10-09 18:46:00 | Found this today regarding old Al's movie : Court finds 11 inaccuracies in Al Gore's movie Source: New Party web site The decision by the government to distribute Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth has been the subject of a legal action by New Party member Stewart Dimmock. Although a full ruling has yet to be given, the Court found that the film was misleading in 11 respects and that the Guidance Notes drafted by the Education Secretary's advisors served only to exacerbate the political propaganda in the film. In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that 1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. 2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children. The inaccuracies are: The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct. The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years. The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming. The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case. The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm. The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility. The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim. The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia. The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing. The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration. The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim sarel

2007-10-09 19:53:00 | Yes Sarel its all a "Cruel Hoax". The surprising thing is so many have been sucked in by the ramblings of a few self appointed experts and the fact that although the Media have been presented with an abundance of contradictory evidence, they have chosen to run with the hoax. I guess hysteria sells papers and TV Programmes. :groan:

2007-10-09 20:13:00 | B.M. - what bothers me is that ordinary people, good Kiwi's through and through, are being sucked into believing the Greenies of the world's every statement for the honest truth. Nothing could be further from the truth. It's the same as the South African Minister of Health who says garlic will cure AIDS sarel

2007-10-09 23:11:00 | Guys - anyone can be a critic . It is easy to do nothing . Ignore things and they will go away . Imagine what our cities and rivers would look like if we'd ignored pollution in the 1970s . Go to India and China today and you'll see . I know that not everything in Al Gore's documentary is correct . Science moves on and new research is released every day . The main problem is that climate is so big and complex that we cannot understand what is happening without making an effort . The CO2 rise following melt from ice-core data is an example and Gore was right - it just isn't easy for the average person to follow . . realclimate . org/index . php/archives/2007/04/the-lag-between-temp-and-co2/#more-430" target="_blank">www . realclimate . org

2007-10-09 23:47:00 | You miss the point Winston . The argument is not whether there is such a thing as Climate Change; the argument is whether Climate Change is Man Made . Most Rational people accept there is such a thing as Climate Change . They just dont accept that it is Man Made and that Carbon Credits and associated measures will make a blind bit of difference . Id love to know what the natural flatulence levels are like in places like Rotorua and White Island . What steps do you think we should take to deal with that little problem? Itll take a lot of tax I feel sure . :D
