593621 2007-10-04 18:15:00 Hi guys

Sorry about my double posting previously.

Had a bit of fun during the previous election. The Greenies advertised this event with a "renowned" US environmentalist talking about global warming and "everybody is welcome". So I attended, with a few transparencies myself (this guy used transparencies a lot). Needless to say, I was boldly thrown out of the event just for "discrediting the hockey stick effect" that every environmetalist sprout these days. Also lost three lady friends that day because of my "improper views". Great fun. Planning to do the same next year.

Perhaps we should start up our own party and take over the government. How about Metla for PM. SurferJoe as our US Ambassador. PCTek as our Comms Minister. Other suggestions?

It’s a bit tricky debating with people who find a margin of error of 750 million years doesn’t detract from a theory.

Whoops, the other post got away on me .

Your story reminds me of an occasion many years ago when I was invited to a séance in a hotel in Palmerston North .

Well, the spirits wouldn’t come out to play because they complained there was a non believer in the room .

So, I got chucked out and had to go and shoot pool with the thugs in the Public Bar . :annoyed:

Those rotten spirits must have also told the young lady that invited me never to speak to me again!

With regard to a political party, I will only consider a party that is prepared to denounce all this nonsense and I think there would be considerable support for one that did .

did you even read the nasa article?

it isn't a regular occurrance with even time intervals, it is somewhat random with variable intervals. 750 million years isn't a "margin of error", and they weren't making any definite predictions either

just personally, your attitude is beginning to annoy me. it seems you made up your mind some time ago and follow it religiously - you seem to ignore anything thrown your way, and refuse to consider the possibility that human activities can have a huge impact on the earth. the evidence is there, just some people seem to find it more convienient to ignore and deny it, and some go further to spread more misinformation which the same people then quote in discussions like this

and as for your "just like y2k" conspiracy theory: sure there may be money to be made by some as renewable energy sources become more attractive, but there is much more money to be lost as industries that have existed since the dawn of the industrial age become defunct and bankrupt (i'm talking oil companies, machinery/vehicle manufacturers, many energy providers, and 90% of the automotive industry)

either way a reduction in our largely toxic gas emissions couldn't be a bad thing could it? (note i agree most the tax schemes to date are BS)

CO2 is hardly a toxic gas.:badpc:
Unless of course you stick your head in a plastic bag full of nothing but CO2.
Or if you're a canary down a mineshaft.

593627 2007-10-05 09:36:00 i'm thinking of all the other gases that are a result of burning fossil fuels, including carbon monoxide, nitrous oxides, ozone, hydrocarbons, sulphur, "fine particulates" and more

we don't see much of it here in nz, but in many major cities around the world they do (and when you can see it, you know it's gotta be bad)

Motorcyclist could you please direct me to the article I never read? :D

The NASA article I did read made no mention of “Man Made Global Warming”.

The other thing that you must get your head around is that probably all of us that consider the hysteria about Global Warming and Climate Change is just that, Hysteria, do not condone wanton pollution. Indeed you will find in another thread that I was highly peed off that having packed up a car full of e-waste last weekend I was sent home with two VCR’s and a 14” TV. It’s this sort of nonsense that makes a joke out of the “Green Movement”.

The other thing that annoys me is that as this matter is by no means “cut & dried” there is absolutely no need for the Government to endorse and indeed promote all this hysteria.

I note that even in this small poll there are more that take the negative view in the proposition that "Climate Change is Man Made".
