| 592907 | 2007-09-28 23:31:00 | All governments are corrupt, it's just that some of them are better at hiding the corruption than others. :D | intel hunter (6666) | ||
| 592908 | 2007-09-28 23:52:00 | John H: The relevance is this: Kiwibank was set up by the government - this is not a "core business" activity for a government. This is a foray into commercial activity, the reason it was done is irrelevant. If state education isn't working (and from my position sitting on a school board for six years, it isn't for many schools - especially with the broad [non-]acceptance of and scandals around NCEA - but that's an entirely different thread), let private enterprise fill the gap and provide what people want. State assets - hmmm, you might have a point. Hasn't worked particularly well so far, come to think of it (Rail, Telecom etc)... |

| 592909 | 2007-09-29 03:14:00 | I don't care much for any of the political parties. Labour are taking this country downhill, that's for sure. But National isn't necessarily the solution. I get frustrated with the fact this country seems to be run by a band of PC socialists. While the principles of socialism are all very well, the current crop of socialists seem hell-bent on taking us downhill. About time people stopped receiving needless benefits and started working for a living. About time people were made to be responsible for their actions. About time we had a legal system to be proud of. I could go on. |

| 592911 | 2007-09-29 03:53:00 | By the way - half the problem with the current political system is MMP.And the other half is MPs. :D :D :D | johcar (6283) | ||
| 592912 | 2007-09-29 03:57:00 | By the way - half the problem with the current political system is MMP. Yes we should have had STD um STV I think proportional representation is good as it gives a small p arty a chance to get going. I mean most people don't really like Labour or National and If a half way decent party with good policies came along it would never get voted for under 1st past the post. By the way where did "PC" come from ? And why do we let it go on ? Hardly anyone I know thins its a good thing. Aside from not calling mental people mental etc and cripples cripples ! Regards Digby |

| 592913 | 2007-09-29 04:03:00 | I'm beginning to wonder, who the hell AM I going to vote for? I'll be 18 for this election and will be voting. But there are no parties in NZ that I like. I wish you could vote against parties. |

Well no system is perfect but when you have list MPs, including the likes of Sue Bradford, who are suddenly placed in a position of incredible power, it really makes MMP seem like an absurd system. |

I wish you could vote against parties. You are quite within your rights not to vote. It's not compulsory. Laziness or ignorance shouldn't be an excuse for not voting. But why give preference to one party over another if either you don't like any of them or there isn't anything to choose between them. You could always start up your own political party of course. Do something about broadband and I'll vote for ya :) |

| 592916 | 2007-09-29 04:53:00 | National: Work for the dole. Abolish Community Services Card. Reduce taxes for the rich. Reduce Health Services. Increase Personal responsibility - whatever that means. War on the poor. Increase perks for already privileged sectors. Crikey zqwert,consider yourself a member of we the personal responsibilty party. I knew you would see the light. Bring Terry to the meetings. |
