767750 2009-04-23 04:44:00 Hey, how bad is xnet atm? I would like to join because of their large data caps. Around 11.5gb for $45 and $3gb for $40 on telecom. Plus I could get interleaving turned off and playing on game planet severs means usage is local.

So how bad are the sync speeds? I wouldnt mind getting 2mb+ (atm syncing at around 4mb) as long as my data cap is large.

What do you think should I join xnet?

767751 2009-04-23 04:52:00 If you like slow speeds often, go for it :p

Depends which plan youre on, I'm on the river plan, and capped myself at 15gb, about 40 a mth. Then it'll go down in speed

Altho, I dont play games online, so dont know how good it'll be. Altho, it may not be that bad, if the server is local

767752 2009-04-23 09:05:00 Please, do yourself a favor, go with somebody like Orcon ;)

Im looking forward to changing to Orcon (Scheduled for 2 weeks from now), have been using them at multiple sites. Xnet have gone downhill since introducing their Torrent plan :(

767753 2009-04-23 09:42:00 isnt orcon like $79+? Max im looking to spend is $50

Speedy Gonzales "about 40 a mth"?
15gb is just $49.31
Does any one know if xnet has like a 1 year contract? Cause in case its real bad I would like to leave.

767754 2009-04-23 10:16:00 Xnet don't have contracts, you can pay for one month and leave.
No free modems, no connection fee, no need to transfer your toll dialling to them to get a $10 / month discount.

767755 2009-04-23 10:18:00 Speedy Gonzales can you watch you tube vidoes with out it buffering? Does it ever feel like it gets down to dail up speeds when you surf the net?(uncapped) Blackandblue (14231)
767756 2009-04-23 10:34:00 Not sure now but when I had it 2yr before the Torrent came on .. the 2Mbit speed connection I could get at my place, was fine for youtube - no buffering.

I switched to 256k cos I don't really use much of the multimedia and for podcast I can just download and listen and I didn't feel good about paying the same price as anyone and just got my 1.8Mbit, yeah I got 1.8Mbit than a 2.0.

767757 2009-04-23 11:49:00 Xnet have contracts now Nomad. beeswax34 (63)
767758 2009-04-23 13:59:00 Blackandblue, that includes your home line, so subtract approx $45 (That you're currently paying Telecom for your line rental) and you get the "internet" price Chilling_Silence (9)
767759 2009-04-23 21:50:00 Xnet has good plans. Their staff seem knowledgeable and helpful. Their prices are reasonable. If this's what you wan go for it.

Their speed is from slow to very slow. If you want fast and reliable speed stay away from them. eg. A download took over 2 hours in the evening and the I abandoned it. Following morning it took 23 minutes.

I'm happy I switched to Orcon
