Wet n' Forget must be one of the biggest scams ever in NZ - purely from ever present and blatant over-saturated
advertising - by radically over-pricing a pretty readily available product to pay for its advertising

1438124 2017-08-08 21:03:00 Yes I went into one of their shops last year and was astounded by the price of their products

Spray and Walk Away seems to do the same job and seems to be cheaper.

But this high price and high advertising sales technique has been around for years.

Look at Briscoes, they have high prices (for good quality products) and then they special them at 50or 60% off every month or so!

Also see the example of air port duty free stores not being any cheaper than local retailers!

1438125 2017-08-08 22:41:00 Ive yet to find any moss & mold killer thats actually worthwile on my concrete or house exterior
The mold/moss is back within a month , often never actually killed off after application. Even on door sills , useless.

Actually, what did work was household bleach , undiluted , poured on straight out of the bottle . I can see the areas where Ive poured a bottle
of bleach over the concrete : no moss/mold (not for a while anyway).

1438126 2017-08-08 22:57:00 They take longer than a month to work 1101, the bioshield page from Mistys link says
Works quickly to kill and remove moss, mould and lichen, taking as little as 3 months to clean dirty
concrete
. I tried a few different ones over a season and decided they were useless then a few months later noticed the test area I sprayed was noticeably whiter than the area next to it. There's a reason they say spray and walk away.
On my concrete path I get the black slimy stuff, I need to spray it about once a year or it just keeps coming back. I've also water blasted it before, does a better job faster but it comes back quicker too - and I'm told water blasting damages the concrete.

I have used 30 seconds and wet and forget, they did work but took 2 applications a couple of months apart, also tried a much cheaper warehouse spray called spray away that seemed to work about the same. All in all they are not especially impressive but they do work.

1438127 2017-08-08 23:17:00 Many months : still useless. Ive been trying these products on & off for years
May work for some, but on my house & driveway : useless .

A big bottle of undiluted janola : bam, just the thing. :-) Perhaps as it turns to salt after time & exposure ?

Waterblasting can damage the smooth top layer of the concrete, making things worse long term. Supposedly .

I found, accidentally, that Dettol works.
Not any disinfectant, well maybe, haven't tried any....but dettol in water does.

1438129 2017-08-09 02:30:00 I have used Wet and Forget (glad to know that its now one of the cheapest according to that Consumer Chart per litre) for two years now.

I found it works really well on mould and moss and dark patches on my concrete, but it does take time (several months)

I don't want to use a water blaster as it will be bad for my concrete's surface.

However, this year in the middle of winter on a small concrete wall at the back of my house, that gets little if no sun, the moss has come back with a vengeance!
I am not sure if its a fact of life or if its to do with global warming or just a yearly phenomena that may not occur next year.

Bound to be something to do with "Climate Change" Digby. I would not worry about it as we will all be under water anyway if the doomsayers are correct.
