1437723 2017-07-27 02:14:00 Better still, free Kaspersky!

I understand this is this shizz in the world of antivirus.

Might give it a nudge...unless someone advises otherwise.

1437724 2017-07-27 03:15:00 "email and web antivirus"

Thats better than some of the other free AV's . many freebies wont scan email (AVG & Avast do, most other not)

KAV is the shizz as far as detection goes , or at least it used to be .
It used to have the reputation of being a resource hog though . Possibly as its manual scans were more thorough than other products 'quick scans' and KAV scan used
to take a very long time , back when I used to use it .

I'll be uninstalling NOD & giving KAV a go :)

1437725 2017-07-27 03:23:00 I'm a bit biased against it but I realise that comes from years ago. I got a 1 year free trial with a motherboard, used it for a couple of months, then realised it was the source of frequent hangs in my browser and got rid of it.
Since then defender has done good enough for me supplemented by a few other free tools occasionally.

1437726 2017-07-27 07:31:00 Stuck it on an old Vista box today, seems OK. KarameaDave (15222)
1437727 2017-07-27 08:08:00 Hmmm, OK if you currently use one of the other free ones, but I'll stick with my NOD32.

Rule 1: If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

1437728 2017-07-27 08:17:00 Find it hard to believe Kaspersky has no interference from the Putin regime as Eugene was in the KGB as well even though he has continually denied there is no interference

This just out www.bleepingcomputer.com

you could ask the same question of ANY software .
Look at the US & all there requests for backdoors into software ,encryption, OS's etc .

Im giving Kav a good old test right now .
Ive got a laptop with an infection that nothing seems to detect . I can see the file that the malware puts in the 'run' folder , that file is detected but not the malware
creating it . Del that 1 file & it pops back in 1 minute later :badpc:

1437730 2017-07-28 00:09:00 Just installed this on SWMBO's system.
It initially promted for an email address but I skipped it & still carried on without it.
I'll see how it behaves.
