1437632 2017-07-25 07:37:00 kinda, you can get usb sound cards that have 3.5mm in and out. Would that do it? Be easier if you said what you were trying to connect maybe.

1437633 2017-07-25 08:05:00 I have an old portable radio/tape player/recorder I want to connect to my computer. 3.5 stereo to USB. Your link to PBTech looks right. I will try here in Wanganui first as I dont have a credit card. Thanks. PJ Poppa John (284)

1437636 2017-07-25 11:02:00 I assume you require a line input device so you can record off your old player? Make sure you get something with that input, I think the suggested device from PB Tech only has mic in. MushHead (10626)

PJ are you wanting to send music from radio/tape/recorder to computer, or from computer to radio/tape/recorder?

1437638 2017-07-25 22:02:00 Those USB adaptors are no different than using the mic in that should already be on the PC/laptop .
Most PC's and laptop will have a mic/line in, look for a 3.5mm socket, sometimes colored red (ish) or blue.

You'll need software as well, otherwise nothing will happen . Sound recorder or similar is built into Win, or use audacity to record.

1437639 2017-07-26 00:11:00 PJ - It sounds like you need a 3.5m to 3.5mm lead. Your PC probably has a 3.5mm sound input socket and your portable player probably has a similar 3.5mm output socket. If I'm right then you need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm male to male extension lead.
e.g. Dick Smith 3.5mm Stereo Audio Cable, male to male 1.2m $5
