| 1437454 | 2017-07-21 21:08:00 | Since the last Win10 1703 update, desktop icons are all over the place when the PC boots. I see from Google that this problem has been around for awhile. It has been perfectly OK up until the last update and it would seem that I may now have to put up with this annoyance. Anyone else got this problem? |

I hate to see a desktop cluttered with icons so I can't see the picture behind them. My one lonely icon hasn't moved from where its always been. | gary67 (56) | ||

| 1437459 | 2017-07-24 04:50:00 | Right click screen, select hide icons, or align to grid. You can delete all the shortcuts & just use the start menu. Or you can turn off the desktop icons, then right click the task bar and select toolbars/ Desktop. You will be able to access the shortcuts from that, single click only. |

| 1437461 | 2017-07-24 05:08:00 | Perhaps a slightly inappropriate response but, a great prank is to screenshot the desktop, hide all the icons, then set the screenshot as the wallpaper... On the plus side all the "icons" will stay where you put them. |

| 1437462 | 2017-07-24 05:58:00 | Thanks everyone. Last Thursday we had a major power cut. Out for seven hours including the loss of the computer. The desktop icon problem seemed to start after that. Anyway, from yesterday all is back to normal. I do turn the PC off daily and I wonder if the power cut might have upset the WIN10 system for a while until it had time to settle down after several re-boots? As I said, back to normal now! |

| 1437463 | 2017-07-24 07:36:00 | A power cut could do it. By default when you turn off your computer its not actually shutdown, the settings, last state etc are stored in Memory. A complete power cut may have caused it to drain, bit like a crash, causing a mess. | wainuitech (129) | ||
