Then you'll know that you may as well get rid of them about every two years or so because the battery pack has deteriorated and it's not worth replacing the battery pack when a whole new drill, or whatever is not much more than the cost of the batteries to replace. It will be the same with the cars, except a new pack of batteries will be between 4 to 8 thousand dollars to replace. How long do laptop batteries last in peak condition if you use them every day? About three years I have found, if that. |

| 1437196 | 2017-07-16 02:04:00 | My old NiCad Makita is still going strong it was used daily for 3 years and then off and on reguarly, and this year daily again for the last 3 months. Daily means using it in my job as a joiner and then while building our tiny home this year. It still holds its charge pretty good but not quite as good as my new Stanley brushless LiIon one. The Makita was a 12V special back in the day for $99. SO not always accurate to say they only last 2 years. |

| 1437198 | 2017-07-16 04:34:00 | I think a lot depends on the battery capacity, I've found any tool which is underpowered for the job, or gets pushed too hard, usually has a shorter life. Used to know a chippy who would go to the Warehouse and buy a couple of dirt cheap drills an use them till they failed, throw them in the rubbish, and get another couple. surprisingly they used to last about 3 months on average, he even had one last 8 months. Reckoned it was cheaper in the long run! |
