It must be so lonely living in your 16th century mindset Hey......SIL drove the machines for road works for years.....she lost her job a few years ago, aged about 50something, not so much because she was 50something , but because she screwed up a couple of times, left one in gear or something, it rolled off and damaged some building...and then she mouthed off about it. Too many mouthing offs and she got fired. But she did drive them for ages, all sorts of them. |

It is bad news being made redundant over the age of 40. Being made redundant over the age of 50, no matter what one's skills and education, you have retired if you were a manager, but be of good cheer,Bunnings and Mitre 10 may give you a job if you are lucky, which means you won't starve, just you are unlikely to live the good life again. Ageism is very much alive and practiced in New Zealand and in Australia. |
