1437837 2017-08-07 01:42:00 OK so it is loading the rt2800 modules, which according to the Ubuntu forums (Mint is based on Ubuntu) do not work with your chipset.
Why they still have not addressed this is a mystery to me.
What you will need to do is compile the correct module, and blacklist the rt2800 modules.

A right pain in the arse if you ask me.

Ralink who made the chipset is now part of Mediatek and their website does not list a driver download for your chipset.
This is the page and no link for download
www.mediatek.com

So I am stumped I'm afraid.

You could try following the instructions here
ubuntuforums.org
Which says to use a rt3562sta.
But there only seems to be a Windows driver for that.

1437838 2017-08-07 02:00:00 Don't loose any sleep over it.
At least that explains why its not working.
