1437525 2017-07-25 23:25:00 I wonder if culture, ethnicity, and demographics, of locals/locality, plays a role to help keep food fresh (or not) especially hot foods. You can't easily sell if locals - and certain cultures, class types, won't buy it. So certain prepared food sits. I seen it. South Auckland of course. Hot chickens, roast potatoes, chips, get sold as soon as it's made, and almost chomped up immediately as early as 6.30 am. Big working class people and college/tech kids- from certain culture - need it as soon as. The town centre now added numerous spicy pizza, and butter chicken shops to accommodate the huge increase in Indian students nearby. Long gone are the "kiwi" styled cafes/lunch bars - they moved east or north within Auckland sort off. Different clientele.

Yet another food bar up the road has nice fresh sandwiches, Sushi, etc - but barley looked at - don't suit local mainly "big" people. I suggested (Vietnamese couple) go to nearby East Auckland Pakuranga - Howick or similar middle class area. He survives by selling...Pigs cooked offsite, along with fat chunks of lamb legs, "buckets" of hot chips, pies, etc. The filled rolls used to go off - he now reduced it to about a quarter of bread and butter - salad items.

1437526 2017-07-26 02:17:00 "we are in a 3rd world country"

a better analogy would be:

"A nanny state - heavily enforced/policed, but badly managed veneer of civilization over a Wild-West type region"
