| 1438267 | 2017-08-16 09:53:00 | There was an article in the British Press about enrolling Prince George for his first school, as there is a requirement for enrolment for a surname to be given on the enrolling, notwithstanding that the Royals do not use surnames. It was decided that the neme used should be Mountbatten Windsor, but in fact these names are constructs. Up till the First World War the Royal family were Saxe Coburg Gotha, and Moountbatten was constructed By anglosizing Prince Phillip's family Name. Strictly speaking perhaps the family name should be Battenburg Saxe-Coburg Gotha, which may be ever so slightly too Germanic for the average British taste. |
