1438239 2017-08-14 20:54:00 Tony's Tyre Service have an awesome reputation

Seriously? Have a look at their reputation online...They suck.

First they want your life story, name, address, phone, email, cellphone, everything.
Just for a quote.
Then if you mention other prices they immediately start interrogation mode again, who, what, when...

Then, sons experience.
They tried pushing nitrogen on him....this is better than that nasty oxygen etc etc....

They wrecked his mag rim.
He went back to complain, they had a half assed attempt at repair and butchered it more.
He had to replace it.

His free flat tyre repair? Never happened, they wanted to charge him, argument ensued, he gave up and went elsewhere.

1438241 2017-08-14 22:22:00 Have a look at hyperdrive.co.nz they can deliver for free and install them outside of AKL or in AKL.

Thanks for that link
hyperdrives prices are hard to beat, and all prices are online . :)

cheaper than Firestone etc

So , what tyre out of all these ? I'll possibly get a Hankook, they seem to get good reviews .

1438242 2017-08-14 23:02:00 Unless you buy four tyres, please make sure they are fitted to the rear wheels, as your own research confirms. Who does the fitting and balancing? Do they charge you separately? Richard (739)
1438243 2017-08-14 23:18:00 Never had a problem with Tonys Tyre Service ... top service, great manners know their product! Been a customer since they first opened.

Perhaps that is another difference between Auckland and Napier

1438245 2017-08-14 23:42:00 Hyperdrive: rather misleading . On the ph they said fitting is free.
Yet putting in an order online there is a fitting etc charge, added AFTER you add to the cart. So not worth buying online to save $25 for a pair
And if they dont have stock they still have your $ .

The way it works is, you buy online , then choose one of their local installers to fit them . They send the tyres to that local tyre shop .
That tyre shop will be making b8gger all on the deal . I'd rather pay a bit more & get better service

1438246 2017-08-15 00:29:00 Go and talk to your local Bridgestone shop, and as I said earlier ask for a deal on four tyres, trading your worn two. They will bend over backwards to help, and you will get a product you can have confidence in. They will need to see the used tyres, to give you a price. Cheers. Richard (739)
1438247 2017-08-15 00:50:00 New Tyres now fittted
I went to a local tyre shop and bought a pair of Hankook H308 .
$180 all up.

Thank god I no longer have a car that costs $1000+ for a set of tyres. For some reason I cant afford that anymore , even though Im earning the same as I was back then .
Not many locals driving cars as old as mine , even on the motorway I hardly ever see cars that old (1990) .

1438248 2017-08-15 04:18:00 Mine is! I have a 1990 BMW 535i and I can't bear to part with it, cruises well, everything still works, not a speck of rust. It is still a good car, and only experts know it is 27 years old. Glad you got your purchase sorted. Richard (739)
