| 1438205 | 2017-08-13 23:31:00 | We have setup a server 2012 machine running WSUS here to overcome the Win7 update issues. Literally saves DAYS. untill WSUS database grows to a size its no longer manageable & the WSUS Cleanup/mangement tools no longer work... leaving a 70GB WSUS folder, broken WSUS, PC's that no longer download any updates (as the sever's WSUS is broken) :badpc: :) |

This is specifically for resolving update issues and installing the problematic updates. Not on a domain. The server is only hosting certain updates that resolve the issues with taking ages to scan - not all the updates. Once they are installed, Win7 will only take around 10 min to scan and then start downloading the remaining 100+ updates in a timely fashion. Can make a Win7 fresh install that would have literally taken over a day to get all the updates installed take only a couple of hours. |

| 1438207 | 2017-08-14 09:34:00 | Don't search. Go straight to the manufacturers website and look under the model number. Yeah. Toshiba site requires the correct product code prior to giving access to any drivers, just trying the laptop series only got a BIOS update and nothing else. The product code was refused on all but toshiba.eu and then all the drivers were listed (yay), BUT only with links to the toshiba.de archive that repeatedly failed to complete the downloads ... grrr - AND doesn't support resuming .... grrr. and has download speeds ranging between 30 and 90 kb ... grrr! Posts on their forums going back years with the same problem. Tried from various machines in various parts of the world - same problem. No apparent mirrors or same files hosted elsewhere (well, not accessible to any search engine i tried). Set wget to keep trying and 2GB and several hours later I finally had the 90MB bluetooth driver (the generic atheros one I got to match the listed chipset didn't work as toshiba use a non-standard implementation of the bluetooth stack that it interfaces with). Harumph! |

| 1438209 | 2017-08-14 11:02:00 | Whats the Model Number ? Well, it's done now and back to it's owner, but it's a Satellite L850-A917 (which doesn;t appear in the "chooser") with a Serial Number of 4c371014r (which does return the right model). |
