1437593 2017-07-25 20:55:00 SWMBO's mother used to freak out if she found a power socket turned on and nothing plugged into it.
She had been told the power could leak out.

1437594 2017-07-25 21:44:00 voltage on the stove socket is the same as the voltage on the wall socket .

the phone charger will use the same power either way, the chargers internal circuit will determine how much power it uses (Amps out)

perhaps its something to do with stove & its top elements, boiling veges, heat, water steam etc
not so good an idea to plug stuff into a stove during cooking time :)

hahahaha...my OCD does the same thing, but not for any other reason than there's a 'off' position for the switch so why not use it.

1437596 2017-07-25 23:03:00 Only issue I can see, if you had a (faulty) charger cable, or extension cord, that has high resistance or a charge head unit that was faulty. I once blew a fuse - though using a dryer, because the relatively new cheap extension cord was faulty - could feel it was hot during use.

Maybe use a power bank(s) or similar next time - one already charged from home...

1437598 2017-07-26 05:29:00 Hi,
If I plug my phone charger into a stove socket, does it draw more power than an ordinary wall socket.
My sister is the electricity police and says not to plug my charger into the stove. I'm only staying with her for one day lol!

Her latest power bill was probably a shocker, no pun intended. I'd smile to myself, change to another socket, just in case you need to stay with her another time.

the sister will get quite heated . Use that heat to warm the house & save power.

1437601 2017-07-26 22:46:00 My sister has the lowest power bills of anyone that I know. Never exceeds $60 in the Summer, and around $100 in the Winter.
She has a small wood fire in the lounge and also a heat pump. No electric blankets or heaters in the spare rooms. Just hot water bottles. Every singe socket is turned off at the wall when not in use.
Main drawback in staying with her though is, NO WI-FI OR INTERNET !!! Doesn't have a computer. ( I tether my phone with my iPad)
Can't complain too much, I love her dearly and she is 81 after all......

1437602 2017-07-27 08:13:00 Bet she doesn't use the heat pump either then.
Neighbours in front like to skite about their $80 power bill.
No heating at all, and she cooks on a BBQ out on the deck.

Ours is $170 a month, we have an electric heater, although not used heaps...and a dryer, used quite a lot in winter, son, me and granddaughter all on various internet connected things frequently, gaming included, husband leaves lights on all the time, he forgets to turn his electric blanket off quite often, actually so does son, wondered why one of the cats took a sudden liking to his bed....

You can get a bit overly fussed about power....

In order:
Electric heating
Hot Water
Dryers

use the most.

The rest, well it all adds up but it's not that drastic.
