1437761 2017-07-30 04:52:00 Hi All.
I realise this has been asked many times.
My last backup was about 18 months ago into a WD Elements 1TB. I have looked in it & cannot read any data on it. I don/t remember how I did it.
I want to format it & backup again.

Should I do the whole computer or only selected folders, which folders. It would also be nice to plug it into the computer & read parts that I want to.

Little words please, this is PJ talking. Thanks PJ:confused:

1437762 2017-07-30 05:20:00 You used a special program?

I find this best:

If you want a photocopy of C: drive, then make an image.
handy for if the hard drive dies or some such disaster.

As for copies of docs, pictures etc, a simple copy and paste via Windows Explorer onto a portable drive is all you need.

Will MS on W10 do an image? If not, what do you recommend? I assume I can do both on a 1TB drive. Thanks PJ

yes, win10 backup is very good . From memory, you have 2 option in WIN Backup, one is a system image.
You should be able to fit both an image & a basic copy(as above) on a 1Tb HD. Depending on how much stuff you have to backup of course.
