1437367 2017-07-19 23:25:00 As one who does not believe in "climate change", it would be nice if we had some global warming here in NZ so that our winters would be a few degrees warmer.

It gets a bit depressing with day after day of cold and rain.

1437368 2017-07-20 00:33:00 I'm finding this winter pretty mild overall. A couple of cold snaps here and there sure but not consistently. And I've managed to ride my bike to work almost every day despite quite a bit of rain so I don't think it's been all that wet.
Hardly used the heater so far either, maybe 2 weeks worth since sometime in May. Anyway, our respective local weather conditions do not serve as evidence for or against climate change when taken in isolation. The sun came out for several hours yesterday.

It doesn't matter if you believe in it or not, it's occurring regardless. :)
Your post also shows you lack a basic understanding of what climate change actually is.

1437370 2017-07-20 01:59:00 The south is cold but Auckland sure hasn't been.

One or two colder days is all, the freesias came up week ago, the grapevine dropped it's leaves then immediately started forming the new buds.
I haven't pulled the capsicum plants out yet either, they have gone a bit yellow, too much rain, but they keep forming baby fruits still - although the slugs are getting them.

It's 18 degrees right now.

Lighten up a bit, Nick. This probably is more Digby's dry humour albeit prefaced with a debatable belief. To which he is entitled.

Actually I'd like you to explain to me (and us) what Climate Change is.

Global Warming I could understand (but not agree with)

And why is complaining about the weather trolling ?
Are there some unwritten rules and what topics we can start?

1437373 2017-07-20 03:27:00 I think what he's getting at is 'global warming' is a bit of a silly term - sure, the overall trend for the last little while is that the planet is getting slightly warmer, but what we're actually experiencing is 'climate change', which seems to mean the weather we're seeing is more extreme and more changeable than it used to be.

That does not necessarily mean it's going to get warmer...

1437374 2017-07-20 07:17:00 Its very hot in the middle east and Spain right now, and yet they have had snow in southern Brazil!

Over what period do the "climate change people" allow for their theory?

Five years, Ten Years, 100 Years, 1,000 years, 10,000 years, 50,000 years.

And what is the opposite of "Climate Change" ?

Climate Steady
Climate Un-Change
Climate Change reversal?

1437375 2017-07-20 07:49:00 You can ignore it or make jokes about it all you want, but the numbers don't lie - the world is currently getting a lot warmer than it has for quite a significant period of time, and the results of that aren't known.

Whether it cools off again in 50 years we do not know.

climate.nasa.gov

data.giss.nasa.gov

The numbers don't lie.

1437376 2017-07-20 08:09:00 If the Climate Change people were really worried about global warming and wanted to do something about it.

Then keeping our emmsions to what they were a few years ago is not going to cut it, and is just "touchy feely."

The only answer is to start reducing the worlds population NOW, so that "we" need less energy and consume less.

So my answer would be the immediate introduction of two children per female only. After that COMPULSORY sterilsation for these females.

That way the worlds population would start to reduce, and need less resources.
