2009-04-25 16:49:00 | Depends on what your trying to keep out. If you want to restrict access to networking sites(bebo, facebook) or to porn sites then yes | plod (107) | |
2009-04-25 21:23:00 | You will probably get more reliability using opendns. And as plod said you will have more control over what sites can be visited etc. You can even make a homepage for those connected to your network as I have done. Blam

2009-04-25 22:07:00 | I cant comment on how Telstraclears, but I found that DNS was faster & more reliable using OpenDNS than almost all of the other ISPs here in NZ. It also blocks phishing attempts, and a few other things here: www.opendns.com I'd recommend trying it :)

2009-04-25 22:12:00 | TelstraClear's DNS has been a bit flakey lately (TelstraClear Cable, Wellington) so you might be better off going the OpenDNS route. Just be aware that there may be slightly more latency resolving addresses, since OpenDNS isn't based in NZ. | somebody (208) | |
2009-04-26 02:47:00 | And if you care about NXDOMAIN results, don't use it - it doesn't return them (which incidentally is breaking the DNS spec) :groan:. | Erayd (23) | |
