595954 2007-09-28 05:53:00 Is there a simple phone system for home use, something like the PABX system?

Requirements:

1. to be able to receive and make outgoing phone calls,

2. to be able to use as Inter-com for different bedrooms/locations within a 3-bedroom /kitchen/lounge/garage.

3. to be able to transfer incoming calls from one room to another.

595955 2007-09-28 06:20:00 I would say yes, ask either Telecom or your ISP. It would probably be something similar to what many small businesses have. winmacguy (3367)

595958 2007-09-28 07:49:00 I have one if you're interested. It can handle three lines, 12 extensions, and I've mostly worked out how to use it.

It's just sitting in my attic, so PM me an offer if you like and it might be yours :)

595959 2007-09-28 09:45:00 Or just buy one of those wireless Wdect phone systems.

With digital answerphone. It'll pick up the call after so many rings, you can even see who called, by pressing a key on any handset.

Usually you can register up to 4 of them. On the base unit

Plug them into any power point, any room, anywhere. Just as long as the handset is in range (about 300m or so), when the main phone rings, they'll ring, they can also be used as intercoms.

Only thing is I think you wont be able to use the phone while youre using the intercom side of it. And if there's a power cut, you cant use them. As they need power to work.

And they also have an address book, which can be copied from one handset to the other.

Some arent cheap tho.

Yup, with Woosh we needed something like this and we have 3 of them including the base set . They're Uniden WDECT and they're surprisingly cheap actually . We got one base set and one additional unit for $100, complete bargain .
