595012 2007-09-25 23:57:00 A couple of weeks ago, I posted this thread (forums.pcworld.co.nz) regarding calling the USA on a mobile phone. I have now decided this is not a viable option and that a prepaid calling card on a land-line is the way to go. However, I know nothing about these cards. What are the differences between the different brands? How do you use the cards? Where can you buy them?

Note that this will be for land-line to land-line calls from NZ to USA.

Thanks

595013 2007-10-04 04:21:00 Try Onesuite.com

It can be use from New Zealand calling USA and vice versa either from mobile or landline.

It has voip feature also just in case you need a voip for making calls.

You will like features like online access on your account, zip dial (pinless) and rapid dial (online phonebook) will make dialing easier.

595014 2007-10-04 06:13:00 Try GoTalk cards... really inexpensive. Also speak to your telecoms provider - eg Telecom have a real good max rate per three hours or so. Greg (193)
595015 2007-10-05 02:53:00 Suggest you check out Telecom 0161 calling. 8 cents a minute to UK, USA etc off peak. 16c peak. Not well advertised, but you will find it on their site. Been using it for years with no problems. Peter H (220)
595016 2007-11-17 10:08:00 Another Onesuite.com user here.

Happy with their service especially now that they added voip so that means more savings and more accessible (can make calls even if you have no cell hpone or landline)

595017 2007-11-17 12:45:00 Or, try a "Chi-tel" card... It's pretty good!

If you're in one of the cities, just pop into any dairy (esp the asian ones, they'll definitely have them).

Good quality, based on me using it. About 5cents/min, so it's cheap!

595018 2007-11-17 19:59:00 The KIA ORA or KORERO MAI cards have 3 cents a minute calls to UK and USA, with no surcharge or peak/cheap times.

Most dairies, petrol stations or even Dick Smiths have calling cards. Read the fine print carefully to see if surcharges or peak times apply.

We use Chi-tel for calling the UK. Really excellent and cheap. Worth checking and comparing that and other types of cards you can get from the dairy for calling USA.
