595485 2007-09-28 22:22:00 My old man told me a few things I shouldnt do
Never hit a girl
Dont hit someone with glasses
Dont hit anyone smaller than yourself
One that I will tell my kids if you have power dont abuse it. Having a semi auto 9mm pistol is real power.
I am really anoyed at the moment because cops in nz arent supposed to be armed. They are supposed to use their brains and defuse situations or retreat and get backup. Last thing we want here is American style shootups like when that negro got waxed on his stag do. They fired an incredible amount of bullets.
Presently crooks when they are out doing what crooks do they dont need to carry arms for protection, if they do because of the "got gun will use it" theory we may be in for a torrid time.
If that cop fired 4 bullets and 2 hit where did those other 2 go? hopefully not into the bedroom of some sleeping kid.

tedheath

Are you for real? "Stop sir, please dont smash my skull in with your hammer, please no"....

As for the other comments of disarming the offender, ever tried doing it to someone who is amping? not an easy task.

The loser got wasted. Good job.

595489 2007-09-28 23:27:00 Why is it when a person gets shot by police, after trying to attack them, that afterwards all the relatives, friends, co workers, come out of the woodwork and say how good that person was. The parents always say that their son would never do anything like that. How would they know?. Did they ever read the signs that their son was a troubled teenager?

They are touted as being a pillar of society, hard working, loving, and never get into trouble. Like all parents we wish that to be so, but it hardly ever is. Parents today just don't know where, or what their children are doing, because they are far too busy with their own lives. Case in point was the 9 year old wearing pyjamas that was killed on the Napier to Hastings expressway last night. Where were the parents? :groan:

595491 2007-09-29 00:45:00 At least on the positive side they shot him dead before anymore harm was done to that van he was attacking, Think of the children after all, The horror, the horror, Hell, it might have even needed panel work.

Personally I think any person who shoots someone else dead on NZ soil should immediately be charged with man slaughter, no matter what uniform they wear. Being a cop shouldn't be a license to kill.

If they are innocent then they can prove their case in court.

595492 2007-09-29 02:30:00 Here you go - your chance to have a say (http://wiki . policeact . govt . nz/) . The wiki site is down at the moment, but you can read what they're trying to do via the other links from there .

Quote from Boing Boing ( . boingboing . net/2007/09/26/new-zealand-puts-its . html" target="_blank">www . boingboing . net):

Sara sez, "The New Zeland police have launched a wiki open at anyone wanting to edit and make suggestions to the Police Act as part of a wider revamp . New Zealand's current Police Act is nearly 50 years old . In March 2006 a review undertaken . Following this a new website wiki . policeact . govt . nz has been launched to allow people to suggest wording for the new Policing Act . It uses similar wiki technology to the popular user-generated site Wikipedia . The wiki version of the Policing Act will be viewed by New Zealand parliamentarians, before an official bill is introduced into Parliament . "
NZ Police Superintendent Hamish McCardle, the officer in charge of developing the new act, said the initiative had already been described as a "new frontier of democracy" .
"People are calling it 'extreme democracy' and perhaps it is," he said .

"It's a novel move but when it comes to the principles that go into policing, the person on the street has a good idea . . . as they are a customer," he said .

"They've got the best idea about how they want to be policed . "

595494 2007-09-29 05:46:00 For those who say the cop shouldn't of shot the guy dead....What if a member of your family, son, daughter, partner etc happen to get in the way
of this madman and was attacked and died. What would your feelings be then.
