594764 2007-09-26 10:15:00 You are welcome to write a letter or even go to court over it. But the law is on their side if you were still in the 50km/hr zone. Unless they got your details wrong or similar, you will have to pay.

Although you may feel that you have done nothing wrong, you have breached a traffic law and therefore unless there are special circumstances, the government will be $120 better off.

I always remember many years ago I went through a stop sign and didn't come to a complete stop; I slowed down and checked to see if anyone was coming. Noone was, so I drove through. A nice traffic officer issued me a $75 fine. Of course, I felt hard done by. I checked to see if the way was clear, which it was, so I didn't effect anyone else. But it was a stop sign. You have to come to a complete stop. That is the law (whether you agree with it or not). If you don't, you risk a fine. Nine times out of 10, you will get away with it, if you don't stop (or if you speed), but occasionally you will get caught. So its best if you stop, it means your journey takes slightly longer but you haven't risked fines.

Muhahahahaha.

I would say that she had a warning sign telling her to slow down road works ahead before she went around the bend, so I probibly think she deserved the ticket.

594772 2007-09-26 22:04:00 Here is my opinion... The speed limits are exactly that, limits... you should be doing the max speed of that zone eg 50kph in a 50 kph zone... Even if there is a 70kph or higher zone coming up, you legaly should be doing 50kph up untill that 70kph sigh. That said, usualy I don't, but if I get a ticket fine (not had one as yet :D), it is my actions that get me that ticket... If you really want you could get a radar detector and then you will have a largely reduced chance of being caught out by hidden cameras. :2cents: The_End_Of_Reality (334)
594773 2007-09-26 22:58:00 The police cannot have it both ways .

If you are required to accelerate to the speed limit to comply with the new sign, where is this supposed to be accomplished?

You cannot have to be at the speed instantly either lowering it or raising it at the moment the sign is perpendicular to your door handle .

It's not fair .

Don't they put up signs to inform you that there's a speed change either up or down, ahead?

That would be cricket .
