768227 2009-04-25 08:31:00 Some sites say support for XP has been extended until 2014

I would say it would have been earlier if MS hadnt stuffed up with Vista. And people wanting to downgrade from Vista back to XP

768228 2009-04-25 08:41:00 Microsoft is still releasing security updates for XP through the update service, so it certainly hasn't stopped yet. Grimy (3041)

Yes...they're offering security updates until 2014, but there is no free support anymore.

768233 2009-04-25 09:07:00 Not that it matters, I have still have some customers using Win98 which stopped being "supported" by MS some time ago.

Never mind, I still support it for them......

what do you mean by "supported"

as said above, security updates will keep comming for a few years.
you can even buy it new in a very few select shops.

Microsoft has many levels of support for every product, bug fixs, security updates, phone support, free support, paid support.......

in some measure of things you can say that windows 3.11 only went end of life last year.
