I have two reasons why it shouldnt be changed, people have died defending it and we are mostly immigrants from Pomgolia. Cant use the Canada as reason because the French in Quebec didnt really like having a pom part on the flag. Understandable considering the poms under Gen Wolffe defeated the frogs. |

They reckon the USA presidential candidates require a million dollars a week to campaign. They campaign for 18 months and there are about 5 or 6 so thats about 400 odd million. |

| 595698 | 2007-09-27 20:00:00 | Whether we a re a republic or a constitutional monarchy makes very little difference in the end. Parliament is still the supreme law-making body in NZ. If the Governor General refused to give Royal Assent to a bill it wouldn't be a crisis - Parliament would just pass a law to say that we didn't need Royal Assent for a bill to become law. And given all the criticism of the NZ government on this forum - it is a little disingenuous to claim that we have a mature democracy and don't need ties to the motherland... |

A country that goes changing its flag = a country unstable in what it believes in. |
