597669 2007-10-03 22:50:00 I'd suggest they get with the 1800's and just buy sliced bread. Metla (12)
597670 2007-10-03 22:56:00 Make sure it is petrol powered for the really tough loaves. gibler (49)
597671 2007-10-03 23:31:00 Well doesn't thrill me too much but if she wants a breadslicer, then yes, its a great idea. pctek (84)
597672 2007-10-03 23:38:00 NO NO NO.... Sorry for shouting, but, she doesn't really want a breadslicer for Christmas.

She would really like some perfume, lingerie, flowers etc etc.

I have been married for 40 years and can tell you that you are wrong.

Come on some ladies out there. Tell him that this old bloke knows what he is talking about..... He needs :help:

597674 2007-10-04 00:40:00 Kenj makes the point - there's a difference between wants and needs.

The bread slicer may fit both categories. We don't know her well enough to say...

But he'd be wise to play it safe by wrapping the bread slicer with a "little something " else.
And a good rule of thumb is - something frivolous she wouldn't buy for herself because it would be an extravagance.

Edit: I need another poll category, saying "Yes, but..."
