596801 2007-10-01 05:08:00 Does anyone know how to make whitewash?

I've got a window that's terribly hot in summer. I'd like to cut the heat but keep some of the light. Last year I used tinfoil on it, but it leaves a nasty residue on the glass and darkens the room too much. I don't like to have blinds drawn all the time.

I've seen shop windows whitewashed (e.g. when undergoing renovations), but I don't actually know what whitewash is. Any ideas?

596805 2007-10-01 07:12:00 You could also use stick on white plastic opaque sheets. Some of the big hardware stores should stock them as they are used for privacy screens on glass doors. Jen (38)

596807 2007-10-01 07:31:00 You can buy "Window Film" from stores like Mitre10, which is basically like a self-adhesive sheet you stick onto your window. They are available in varying degrees of frost effect and patterns. Not too sure on cost though. somebody (208)
