As a moderator, I suggest that you reconsider your position as moderator . You have violated a very serious point of law about freedom of speech, and like it or not, you are not exempt of fairplay and legal ramifications too . If you were here in the US, you could be guilty of violating copyright laws, personal freedom of speech and violation of those statutes as put forth in the laws of your own domain . You have a severely blackened eye in my opinion and are henceforth suspect at best . You originally came into this site swinging guns and blasting people with elan . I do not hold you in much respect and suggest that the other mods take you aside and give you a severe reprimand . Not too many people appreciate you for that in the first place . Get a grip . It is well known you have a chip on the shoulder about Fairfax and how it operates its website from your "ivory tower" comments all the time . I think this influences your comments . Fairfax are entitled to do whatever they like to the forum and it is mentioned in the forum rules so there is no point whinging about freedom of speech . Guess what? I actually "interfere" with most polls myself . Most people do not put in an end date or use something ridiculous like 100 days on the poll closing date option . I change this to normally 21 days, otherwise due to the forum quirk anyone voting on a long dead thread but with a poll still open for voting, causes the poll to mysteriously reappear at the top of the page again which is a nuisance to all . I've never asked for permission from the post starter to do this . I fully support Jan, he does a great job, is very obliging and made the change to the poll in good faith trying to be helpful . I thought this was just a corporate site with a few moderators who volunteer their time . As to the Ivory Tower . . I still feel that if they (the Ivory Ones) don't trust the mods to do the right and good job, then what are the mods for anyway? If they want to micro manage, that's ok too . . but there should be consistency in their actions . Everybody can live by rules if they don't change . As a business owner and ex-navy officer, I never let my feelings (at the time) get involved in good judgment . . well, at least that was the plan . We all fail at one time or another . If the Ivory Ones want to visit with the troops, that's fine, but let the Mods do the job they are getting the big bucks for . When they do visit the troops from the upper echelons and especially as new tender meat, they shouldn't find fault from their level . . . instead, ask those in subjection to take a look and see if it needs "adjusting" . After all, they have had experience with the ops and the way things are done . All a person with the power of ultimate decisions can do is sully their position if they get involved the way Jan did . It lessens the value of his judgment in the future not to mention at that time . I have always respected you . . . . and Chill . . . I think you both assist with quietness and let it seem that we troops are actually making good here by ourselves, and that's the greatest testimony of a good leader . I never knew that you "adjusted" the polls . . . but you don't seem to have changed the context or purpose of it . Hopefully, I as Yank here . . . . have not gotten him (Jen or you too!) too riled . . but where there's smoke, there's some sort of discontent . It might have just been mine, but I think there are others that saw the imbalance too . I guess I am a little more independent than youse guys and (somewhat unabashedly) am less tolerant of quashed talent by (in this case) one who made a poll and had it not-so-quietly "corrected" to meet the ideal of someone else . Stand or fall, the poll was the creation of a poster here, and if he goofed it up, then so be it . I guess just really in the end, I was standing up for the poll person's creativeness or lack of it . I stood up for the little guy . And . . you Jen . . do you remember when I jumped all over that guy who (also) came in here and attacked youse guys with his "IT superiority" and insulted you all? I may have been out of rank there as you so told me, but I was actually defending you and the site from what was a pure case of ego . I clobbered this so-called "learn-ed" person for his bad use of syntax and spelling . . . as I thought it was the fastest way to get him to stop insulting my new (at that time) friends here . I guess I was misunderstood then too . I have never held you or any of the mods in contempt . . and you know it by the way I have tried to comport myself to your standards . They are not odious or impossible to live under I feel . . or I would not be here . I completely enjoy the intelligence and knowledge of the people here . We have stood toe-to-toe on some very powerful issues, and I always try to find humor/humour in the things said and posted . Maybe I get a little TOO arcane sometimes and my jokes fall flat . . but I DO enjoy each and every person here . I have learned a lot from Upsidedown Land and I hope I have spread a little cheer and maybe a smile to youse guys too . Since it is better to conform, then I will apologize to Jen and ask him to find me just a little over the top from time to time and not that I am the slightest angered toward him and hopefully that he is not toward me . I got your point and understand it wasn't your intention to upset the mods. Like I stated I did have a reason not to include the option Both. Whether everyone agreed with it or not wasn’t the point. Nevertheless people are welcome to offer their opposing views. It annoyed me that my poll had been changed, but I was happy that it was promptly changed back upon request, thus restoring my faith in this forum and it’s mods. :thumbs:	radium (8645)
