| 596719 | 2007-10-06 12:21:00 | I thought we were trying to get away from old style flags with their cliched format, we need to move into the future, with good symbolism, not ones of empire and crown, something saying we are NZ'ers, and therein lies the problem, what does say that. Everything Euro is just as always, conventional, and everything Maori/ethnic is not the whole story, I mean take a look at most flags they are fairly basic and boring, this is in part due to keeping costs down but also old style ideas as far as I am concerned. I am struggling to find "an anything" which says NZ to the whole world without singling out a particular group, rugby, netball, Maori symbolism, euro NZ, kiwi, sheep, they have all been used before and I for one don't like them as symbols on a National Flag. We need a new start like 'Zestspri', hahah choke. |
