768758 2009-04-29 10:31:00 is there a setting on the bios to unlink the fsb and ram,

so you can up the fsb, without forcing to ram to overclock aswell?

768759 2009-04-29 12:28:00 hey im back again, check your temps. stock coolin is never the best

dbs - i dont think they are linked

fsb 350
RAM 840 (is 1066 RAM)

ram running well below stock speed (which is kinda pointless but all they want is cpu at this point)

Is it posting at all with higher OC's?

768760 2009-04-29 12:33:00 This (forums.anandtech.com) could be useful, read it

Do you know anything about Vdroop/ My old p35 board was shocking, sometimes .2v down on bios reading

so keep fsb stock but up voltage to 1.4 and ram etc to something safe. write them down then run CPU-Z (www.softpedia.com)

Let me know what the voltages read as

768761 2009-04-29 21:12:00 I think the original poster is lucky he did not follow all the suggestions offered in this thread.
At least he can not burn out a modern motherboard. They know how to protect themselves.

Rule #1: If you are not 100% sure of what you are doing. don't do it.

Even if you can't have a burn out, you will certainly finish up with a very unstable computer.

As I don't follow Rule #1 I have been playing with overclocking for years and my suggestion is.
Reset bios to default.
Then increase multiplyer by no more than 20%
Don't touch any power settings.

I have a QX9600 CPU 3.0. It is running now at 3.6. No problem at all. I have had it to over 4.0 but I run into HEAT problems.
I have a Striker 11 motherboard and I think this board automaticly resets voltages. Even a slight increse manualy results in a refusal to boot

768762 2009-04-29 22:14:00 Oh, dear, not again. I thought I had mentioned that I had done a lot of research before and during this thread. I am sorry I haven't lived up to your high standards.

Thank you for your 'help'.

Sorry linw, didnt read the full thread. I thought you required a guide...

That's exactly what I did do. I get errors at an fsb of 345. An increase of 12MHz!

Never mind. It's not often that I need a faster cpu wait time:D

768765 2009-04-30 06:50:00 motherboards often have fsb frequency ranges that just refuse to boot so dont just try on one constantly hueybot3000 (3646)
