I have updates turned off and also done things in the backroom to prevent Msoft tinkering without me knowing. In short- there is not one 'update' since SP1 that appears to have made my XP box less useable... or less safe. |

| 596863 | 2007-10-02 19:59:00 | With the recent disclosure that M$ is sneaking surreptitious spyware and tattle-tails into their Hotfixes and locking out returns to earlier, non-WGA'd products, I will go along with the hesitancy to allow M$ to run amoke in my system . I heartily recommend, however emphatically, that one install SP2 (albeit on a fresh XP install only) as it is pretty much a full re-write of the XP base code . SP2 is quite frankly necessary on many levels and should not be tossed about as trivial and/or fruitless . Call it XP v2 . 0 |
