596758 2007-11-02 04:18:00 I think it's this one (jerms.orcon.net.nz)

Oh well i'll have to try and peddle my sheep one to the aussie, (I'll just replace the green grass with red desert)

Correct link Nigel. :)

How many sheep per acre or hectare will be able to graze on the desert do you think?

well it'll have to be a much bigger flag, i mean after all isn't everything bigger in Aussie -- Egos, Cricket scores, women, waistlines pretty much everything except IQs

596760 2007-11-02 04:56:00 Thanks Cicero, but i could never have sullied my artistic sensibilities with the filthy lucre anyway (in other words damn i lost)

and as we all know

"There is no depression in New Zealand
There are no sheep on our farms
There is no depression in New Zealand
we can all keep perfectly calm,
Everybody’s talking about World War Three
everybody’s talking about World War Three
But we’re as safe as safe can be,
there’s no unrest in this country
We have no dole queues,
we have no drug addicts,
we have no racism,
we have no sexism, sexism, no, no"

Protests are pointless, the leadership will only Sweep them under the carpet

Sorry I couldn't resist, congrats Jermsie and cheers Sweep for putting your money where your mouth is, unlike some who put their foot where their mouth is and get a visit from the Jen/Jan fairy

PS what is Jen short for, Jennifer, Jention violet, Jean, Jeanette and is it pronounced Jen or in the current Norsifecation of PC World should it be Pronounced Yen

That sounds a bit like one of Mets poems, talk about depressing.

596761 2007-11-02 05:03:00 I thought your fence one was very good and should have won,I will put a protest in.

Black and grey are the colours of deprssion..

So where was your entry? Protest all you like. I take it that you did not notice that the winning flag has Black, White and various shades of Grey.

I may be wrong but possibly the subtlety escaped you like the sheep in Nigel's flag?

Take your protest to Wellington if you like. They will take about as much notice as I would.

I quite liked some other entries for the humour BTW. I had serious thoughts about offering a second prize but I did not want to shift the goalposts in mid play. I could award a choccie fish though.

Your use of the word "Drongo" in another post leads me to suspect you actually hail from Australian soil.

I try not to assume before I burst into print.

596762 2007-11-02 05:34:00 So... errr, when's Helen Clark going to implement the new flag? Right before she steps down? Renmoo (66)

This will be between Helen Clark and Jermsie.

This flag design belongs to Jermsie.

If Jermsie wants to promote the design then he/she has the right to do so.
The author's work remains their own as I have mentioned before..

When is Helen Clark going to step down? She may get voted out or step down. I will not know until after the General election next year.

For all I know Helen may be hit by a meteor tomorrow. Or not as the case may be.

Have you a job in the news media and have got the facts or are you just guessing?

In the absence of actual provable FACTS our knowledge grows to fill the resultant vacuum.

Trial by news media? Rumours? Agendas?

What works for me may not work for other people but then I still TRY to respect other opinions.

596765 2007-11-02 06:16:00 Jermsie will be feeling lucky he still has the rights on his flag,I would have thought promotional advice would have come with the $100.

I will try to get Jermsie an audience with Helen,as I am sure she will be of a like mind with you Sweepo on the flag.

596766 2007-11-03 07:06:00 Hmm . My preference for flags had certain criteria - recognisable at a distance, mean something about the country, not fad/issue dependant . The latter criteria removed most entrants IMO .

I had a number of other designs, all with traditional 'flag' cues . You picked a flag without those cues . I was of the opinion that the very important point (to me) of timelessness *needed* traditional flag cues .

I am happy to say i was wrong .

I like the design you chose very much . It breaks from the mould, but doesn't look like a corporate logo circa 2007 . (see earlier waffle by me in thread)

This is hard to do . Nice .
