No luck, viewing this website and others is to painful without it. I haven't tried resetting IE yet. Any idas? Thanks Guys |

2009-04-29 03:05:00 | IE7pro 2.4.5 I think doesnt completely work with IE 8. Theyre in the process of updating it Privoxy works fine here with IE8. Its just been updated too (to 3.0.12). Did you add 127.0.0.1 and 8118 to the proxy in IE8? Dont use Adblock Pro (since, I dont think its free).

2009-04-29 03:52:00 | If you use Privoxy with IE, (or any browser) and go to whatever site, you'll see the P on the taskbar change to (it 'll look like a radar). If you dont see this, you havent added 127.0.0.1 and 8118 to IE's (or whatever browser's) proxy. Go to tools / internet options / connections / click on LAN settings. Tick under proxy server / advanced tab. Type in 127.0.0.1 alongside http and 8118 for the port. Then OK, OK. Close IE, then run it again , then go to a site (try this forum) Watch the P on the taskbar (Privoxy's icon). It should change to a radar when you go to different sites. You should notice that there are NO ads on the forum Uninstall IE7Pro and Adblock

2009-04-29 11:14:00 | Iam running IE8 on Win7 on my new computer and as of yesterday I can no longer block ads, I'm using Adblock Pro For IE8 you don't need a plug-in, you can just use the built in filtering if you don't mind tweaking your settings a bit . Thanks to a user on the DSL Reports forum, there’s now a list of the sites that the Firefox extension Adblock Plus uses which can now be imported into IE8 in order to block ads there, too . Here’s how to set it up: In IE8, go to Access Tool –> InPrivate Filtering Settings from the toolbar menu . Click on the “Advanced Settings” link at the bottom left of the window . Click “Import” to import the XML file you first downloaded from here ( . dslreports . com/r0/download/1412667~e3497d605af178df904ccf491b28d952/rules . zip" target="_blank">www . dslreports . com) (That’s a zip file – you need to extract it first) . You’ll get a message that the import worked and you’ll just click “OK . ” You can close the open dialog boxes now – you’re done! After doing this, the ads associated with the URLs you imported will be automatically blocked in IE . To turn this on, you'll still need to click the little grey lock next to the zoom at the bottom right of the screen (on the status bar) each time you load IE8 . If you want to turn on the filtering automatically each time you start IE8, there's an extra step, you need to do a registry edit like below . If you need more instructions than what I've given then I'd recommend you get an expert to help because registry editing is a risky thing unless you really know what you're doing . HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Safety\PrivacIE Add a dword "StartMode" value 1 The instructions above were from here ( . net/blogs/sarahintampa/Block-Ads-Using-IE8/" target="_blank">on10 . net) .

2009-04-29 11:39:00 | Its just the typical Adblock Plus file but exported to work in IE | Blam (54) | |
2009-04-29 11:42:00 | Hmm that xml file does a pretty good job, but doesnt remove flash ads On this site? I'm not seeing any. Maybe I'm just lucky!!! :banana Make sure you've actually got the filtering turned on, at first I thought it wasn't working because I'd imported the xml file but I hadn't turned on filtering. Use the little grey lock at the bottom right of the IE screen, on the status bar and set it to "Choose content to block" with the little drop down arrow.
