| 769186 | 2009-04-29 01:40:00 | I think the windows backup is ok to backup files and recover one two that you might have accidentally deleted or screwed up - BUT as far as "my whole system is stuffed - can I restore the whole lot and get going again?" - its not very usefull. Maybe you might like to check out Macrium Reflect free version. I discovered it a while ago (there are other programs - but this one works for me). It lets you basically take a whole disk snapshot and restore everything back to that point if you need to. Seems to work ok backing up to a USB device and it gets you to create a Rescue CD. The CD lets you boot up and shows the USB devices to recover from, so it would let you recover a system that could no longer boot from the HDD for example. It also lets you recover individual files of course. |
