| 769118 | 2009-04-28 07:13:00 | Hi guys. I have a Compaq Presario 5420AU desktop, XP Home with SP3. My issue is that I can not install more that 512MB ram. Anymore and it won't startup. After them and installing and booting up with the new single 512 MB chip I also tried installing the 128 and it would start. Re pcuserwinvista comments I think you are correct, but is there anyway of tricking the BIOS? Thanks guys. |

| 769125 | 2009-04-28 07:38:00 | You would have to flash the bios to the latest version When you say "does not boot" at what stage does it get up to? Can it access the bios fine? Sometimes RAM of different timings can cause inability to boot, try changing them around and see if that helps EDIT:Oh poos....just read your post WT:p Blam |

You also said that I "would have to flash the bios to the latest version". I went to HP's site and download and installed their latest. Made no difference. | ianhnz (4263) | ||
