768676 2009-04-26 11:54:00 I was just comparing HJ This logs from other users with my current P4 System and am amazed at how small my log appears to be.
I have been using nLite to remove unnessary services etc.
My PC seems to be running well but there are a few entries in my HJthis log that I am unsure of.

O2 - BHO: AcroIEHelperStub - {18DF081C-E8AD-4283-A596-FA578C2EBDC3} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelperShim.dll

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_2] regsvr32 /s /n /i:U shell32 (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_2] regsvr32 /s /n /i:U shell32 (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_2] regsvr32 /s /n /i:U shell32 (User 'Default user')
O9 - Extra button: Research - {92780B25-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263} - C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~1\OFFICE11\REFIEBAR.DLL

Adobe is used for the Reader only..

Can anyone check these out for me thanks?

768677 2009-04-26 12:40:00 I would be careful WHAT services you remove with Nlite. If something stops working (or doesnt work / install, you'll know why)

O2 - BHO: AcroIEHelperStub - {18DF081C-E8AD-4283-A596-FA578C2EBDC3} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelperShim.dll

Something to do with Adobe, probably adobe reader

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_2] regsvr32 /s /n /i:U shell32 (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_2] regsvr32 /s /n /i:U shell32 (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [_nltide_2] regsvr32 /s /n /i:U shell32 (User 'Default user')

These are part of Nlite. They can be ticked

O9 - Extra button: Research - {92780B25-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263} - C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~1\OFFICE11\REFIEBAR.DLL

This obviously is from Office, just disable it in IE (under addons)

I dont know what it does

You dont really need this

768678 2009-04-26 13:18:00 Thanks Speedy,
I've been using nlite for 18 months or so and providing you are sure of what is needed, then it can be quite safe to use and can certainly help to trim windows size down a bit for older PC's.
Have followed your suggestions as above.. Thanks

768680 2009-04-26 22:31:00 Why do you install your programs to D? Blam (54)
768681 2009-04-27 00:44:00 Is this of a spare workshop pc with only the basics installed?
Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600)

No sp3??
minster (9180)
768682 2009-04-27 04:08:00 C: is small and contains the O/S and nothing else. MyDocuments (which I don't use) lives on D: too. Because of the default stuff that ends up in it......

This makes Imaging easy.

Its my main and only PC.
Used for gaming, accounts, business, everything.

SP3? Yeah? What do I need it for?
