| 768664 | 2009-04-26 08:44:00 | The antivirus part isn't great from what I've read, tried. The techs round here should have a better overview though. | stormdragon (6013) | ||
| 768665 | 2009-04-26 08:52:00 | +1 for that. I reckon the detection rates aren't good enough *yet* Best to stick with Suites that have been round for ages and are proven to be good:) Blam |

Best to stick with Suites that have been round for ages and are proven to be good:) Blam As any reader of these forums hopefully knows, although Norton and McAfee are supposedly good according to some reviews they are in fact hopeless. |

Yes, I did:p I do know that, but Norton and McAfee actually do the job just fine. They suck, but they work as they should. I would use Eset over either anyday though:D Blam |

I LOVE those products - they are GOOD. :p BUT GOOD at making people like me and other Techs a steady income - ( Ca- Ching) $$$$$ :p - part of our jobs - removing and fixing problems caused by viruses and other infections they let through. |

| 768671 | 2009-04-26 22:42:00 | AVComparitives rate McAfee & Nortons as among the best. I'm still skeptical, but has anyone actually run the latest versions of either? Apparently Norton's is actually quite snappy compared to some of the older dog-slow versions. |

Apparently Norton's is actually quite snappy compared to some of the older dog-slow versions. AV Comparatives always rate them as good, but I know from experience they are certainly not. The latest beta for Norton I tried definitely had a much faster installer. Apart from that I don't know how fast the program itself was running. Maybe I'll download a demo and try it out for fun. See if they fixed the horrible interface eg: stop it from instantly deleting anything it finds without asking you |
