| 596931 | 2007-10-01 22:14:00 | A whole month already!! Poor guy. Condolences to his family and friends. It's pretty unbelievable that someone of his calibre, with all the experience he's got, could, apart from crashing in the first place, manage to crash somewhere where he couldn't be found! He must have made an excursion to area 51, perhaps he's been abducted? Or had a heart attack while flying, and landed in a ravine somewhere, I believe theres a few of those around that area? |

| 596932 | 2007-10-01 22:28:00 | It's a very heavily treed area..my dad has property just a few miles from there in Gardnerville, Nevada. There are some tall mountains, but they aren't in the area of primary search. This is just Southeast of Lake Tahoe and extends to about Fort Churchill on the far East. The base altitude is about 5,000 feet, rising a lot to the North, N-West and directly West. The High Sierras are right there where I did not get to go fishing this year, to the N-East of Yosemite Park. There was a dusting of snow there a week ago...nothing stuck, but the temps are very low at night...close to freezing. His watch had some sort of GPS transponder as his aircraft also had I.F.F. and an emergency beacon too...none worked. Someday they'll find his black box and know more. If you need a better map, GooglEearth for "Gardnerville, NV" or "Minden, NV" I will post a link as soon as one becomes available..it has hit the LA TV stations and they haven't put it on the net yet. |

| 596933 | 2007-10-01 23:35:00 | I kinda gave up on the guy after the first week. My feelings were that if you want to go and repeatedly put yourself in the path of severe danger and death, then guess what... it'll likely come to you. I reckon what made him popular is that he defied the odds. If he'd pegged off at his first attempt at some silly record not many would know about him - the media wouldn't have caught on and he would just be another stupid statistic. Having said that, I took a bit of time to assist in the search... here (www.mturk.com), or GoogleEarth from his startoff here (38.680801,-119.549789). Damn shame, but there ya go. ps - evidently he didn't have his transponder watch with him... and no flight plan filed. Along with no evidence of him in the area he indicated he wanted to head gives rise to a few theories in my mind... he was stupidly overconfident; or some other trauma invoked planned suicide; or even murder. |
