596239 2007-09-29 07:32:00 Got a new phone in our house today, sigh and swapped sim cards over, but for some reason it didnt hold the numbers in the contacts so we had to put the numbers and names in manually.
I thought that it is supposed to be stored on the sim card?

596240 2007-09-29 07:44:00 You can transfer contacts to and from your SIM card using your phone's interface, but by default I don't think most phones store them on it (I'm not even sure how many contacts a SIM card could hold???). The easiest way, if both have Bluetooth is to sync them to your computer and then sync them to your new phone, or just send each individual contact via Bluetooth directly between phones. maccrazy (6741)
596241 2007-09-29 11:28:00 Sim card will hold 200 numbers and names
only school girls still use sim card for directory
But you can transfer the numbers from the sim card to the phone directory and vice versa.
Just remember to leave alone the phone when it starts transferring.
If its a Nokia and phone better than a 1100i download Nokia PC suite.
You will need to get 1 of 3 things
Data cable pc usb to phone
Infrared pc usb or serial port (DSE)
Bluetooth pc usb dongle
If you are a low tech use you can get a sim card reader which plugs into pc usb and you can download to computer, update etc and upload to sim.
I am not sure of non nokia phones never owned one I always stay loyal to 1 brand like ford cars , Sako rifles etc..

Cheers :)

596243 2007-09-29 21:24:00 Id recommend you throw your SIM back into the old phone, see if you can find how to copy them from the internal contacts to the SIM card... probably easiest solution :) Chilling_Silence (9)
