769893 2009-05-01 04:17:00 Hi.
I've installed Ubuntu within Win XP but decided then, for other than quality reasons, to uninstall it again. I executed this through Windows' "Add and Remove". It worked but each time when I start up the computer I get asked if I want to boot up with Windows or Ubuntu. Can somebody please tell me how to get rid of this?
Many thanks.

769894 2009-05-01 04:24:00 I didnt know it appeared in add/remove programs. I cant remember seeing it when I installed Linux

You would have to remove the entry for it in XP's boot.ini file. Or just format the partition Ubuntu is on

The OP used WUBI, which installs ubuntu as if it is a program and makes it simple for begginers.

769897 2009-05-01 09:24:00 This sounds a bit weird - if Ubuntu was installed inside Windows why does the boot loader ask if you want to boot to Ubuntu? I have never installed Linux "inside Windows" but I cannot see why the boot loader should be affected? johnd (85)
769898 2009-05-01 09:30:00 Was it installed as a VM? gary67 (56)

Ever heard of WUBI? It adds a boot entry to the boot loader-looks as if its dual booting but really its just installing files as a"program"

When doing this, a pop-up tells me "It appears that all BOOT.INI lines for Microsoft operating system are OK."

But above there is the line C:\wubidr.mbr = "Ubuntu"

Can I delete this line and the problem will be solved?

Thanks for your help.

PS: I just tried to delete the line but it doesn't let me.
