769789 2009-04-30 22:30:00 Does anyone know where I can download this? For a completely legit reason.

Mate dropped off PC, wants me to install his new ram, reformat winxp back to brand new status....

hes supplied cds of all drivers - told me he cant find his Winxp Pro CD, but theres a Certificate of Autheticity sticker on side of PC...

I've looked at torrent sites etc but they all sound dodgy and could come virus infected...

I just need a clean legit copy so I can burn to CD and use it to fix his computer with a LEGIT key that we already have...

769791 2009-04-30 22:43:00 Bummer - But just had a thought - I've got WINXP Home SP3 - if I install this and use winpro serial would it install?

hes not a advanced computer user just a hardout gamer - so he probably wont care what version the OS is....

769793 2009-05-01 01:47:00 no legit way to download it, but you could just borrow someone else's cd. It does need to be the same version as the key though - e.g. OEM version key needs OEM install disk. dugimodo (138)
769794 2009-05-01 01:58:00 Technically it's illegal - but I copy XP disks left right and centre. The COA is the important bit. As long as thats there, IMO there no issue using a non-genuine disk.

Surely you know someone you could borrow or copy an XP Pro disk off?

Technically it isn't. Its the sticker that you are paying for, that makes it legal. The CD isn't even protected.

Just borrow one - needs to be the same XP Home OEM for instance. Or XP Pro OEM, OR XP Pro Retail. etc.

769797 2009-05-01 05:46:00 Perhaps if you say what version you,re after, ie: OEM/Retail. Someone may offer to lend you a copy.
Who knows?

769798 2009-05-01 06:17:00 Use the keyword "untouched" and you should probably find a decent copy on bittorrent.

Don't forget to read ALL the comments.

As long as you have a genuine COA I wouldn't call you a pirate.
