598827 2007-10-06 22:59:00 so back in WWII there was a thing called window......
this created radar reflections using small bit of foil.

my question is how big a bit of foil?
I gather that it is related to the wave length of the radar in use.

my real question of how big a bit of foil do I need to get a good solid radar reflection??

598828 2007-10-06 23:51:00 "Window" was cut in strips of length equal to half the wavelength of the radar used.

German radar was around 50cm, so the strips were 25 cm long. Each piece then reflected or re-radiated a signal as though it was a 25cm square, so a few clouds of these could suggest a large number of bombers were on the way.
