770288 2009-05-02 08:49:00 The winsock fix he already run should have fixed that if it was the issue.

Are you using the same network cable for the laptop & PC? (just moving the cable between them)

look on the back of the computer where the cable plugs in
do you see two lights, one blinking

do you get a light on the modem go off if you unplug the cable coming from the pc

right click on my computer choose properties... hardware... device manager

put your cursor over those two pcs down by your clock does the name given match the name of device (network card) in network connections

770295 2009-05-02 09:11:00 Do you have a thrid party firewall? Blam (54)
770296 2009-05-02 09:15:00 I have not installed a different firewall on there. The only firewall I see is windows firewall. The only place I know to confirm firewalls is through security. Is there another place or way I can do to confirm the I do not know about? puffins808 (14043)
770297 2009-05-02 09:51:00 do you get a light on the router go off if you unplug the cable coming from the pc: the router is functioning properly
Im not interested in the router but I am interested in the status of the connection and this will help in that.

one other question when you are trying to setup the pc is the laptop also on the network or using the router at the same time
