769953 2009-05-02 07:24:00 How about this without the HD and DVD drive(use existing ones)

Should be around 640 bucks.

Sell your old PCs parts for another 80 probably

For a 22" screen I recommend the Viewsonix VX2233vm

769954 2009-05-02 08:36:00 Ah yes, but I am not conversant with swapping/installing parts etc. I am 66 and a widow.... my love was the engineer - I am the organiser! VBG If this is a good deal and would run the AOL 26" monitor then I would be happy to pay the asking price...

Advice please?

Sorry to keep bothering you - but I so appreciate the help....

769955 2009-05-02 08:39:00 It should be fine. Are you sure you need 26 inches? and I would rather get a viewsonic 24" than an AOC....

It should be able to power it easily.

Installing hard drives and dvd drives is as easy as taking the side off, unscrewing it, pulling out the cables, then installing them in the new case.

769956 2009-05-02 08:57:00 I have had an AOC 19" for 6 years so I am somewhat impressed with the brand's longevity....

I need to check re software - only comes with a trial of Vista.... so I would need to factor a full version into the cost.

769957 2009-05-02 09:03:00 You could most probably use your current liscense and "migrate" it over to your new PC if you won't be using the old one anymore Blam (54)
769958 2009-05-02 10:07:00 I did not get disks with my current PC - the programmes were pre-loaded.... guess this creates an issue with Microsoft? Bryden (4161)
769959 2009-05-02 10:21:00 Does your PC have a COA sticker on it? You can just borrow an XP retail CD from someone and install with that key. If it doesn't work ring up MS.

Where about in NZ are you?

769960 2009-05-03 01:51:00 Yes, it has the red sticker on the side with the computer details and confirming Windows EP and Works 2005....

I am in Cambridge....
