Indeed, not too many negative posts lately.

Every ISP has its day!

770028 2009-05-02 11:31:00 every time I move to a different ISP they're good for about a month or two then something happens and it becomes incredibly slow.
So I decided to stop switching, for now...

FYI: I've only switched 3 times

770029 2009-05-03 22:52:00 Problem: If you're on River, AFAIK they *still* wholesale your connection off Telecom, just like the do for the 256k download plan.

Solution: Find an ISP that doesnt wholesale off Telecom in your area, eg Vodafone / Orcon

770030 2009-05-03 23:02:00 Telecom is just as bad as Xnet for international speeds. They are both fine for national speeds.

Go with Orcon or Telstra. If you can get ADSL2+ get orcon's silver+, gold+ or platinum+ plan, depending on what you want.

If you want just broadband (without a phone line/calling) Telstra have better plans.

770031 2009-05-03 23:06:00 If ISP's didnt charge you for moving ISP's or $10 extra, for something you dont want or need, then I would move. Speedy Gonzales (78)
770032 2009-05-03 23:07:00 It depends on the server. I download MS Windows updates at 200k on Telecom (Go Large) but other sites, as slow as 12k utopian201 (6245)
770033 2009-05-03 23:11:00 Same here. Probably because Apple and MS servers are akamai servers. And theyre usually faster. Speedy Gonzales (78)
770034 2009-05-03 23:20:00 If you sign up online with Orcon you save $10, offsetting a $10 disconnection fee with Xnet ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
