769411 2009-04-29 06:40:00 wratterus, Run with wainuitech's reply in #2 You can be a guinea pig and test as to whether it is a crap unit or not, see how long it lasts. Bantu (52)
769412 2009-04-29 06:45:00 Run with a good i7 config. Cheaper CPU for now and a better one later when prices come down a bit. ASUS or Gigabyte Board. Bantu (52)
769413 2009-04-29 06:58:00 Definetly agree with bantu.

i7 pwns everything else for multi threaded apps..

get the i7 2.6ghz and overclock to 3ghz easy peasy. Get the P6T Deluxe mobo and some good quality RAM.

769415 2009-04-29 08:03:00 Hold on. Why would you buy it retail? Surely you can get the parts through your work?

Sure can. Just using computerlounge to show which parts I'm talking about.

Thanks for all your suggestions, much appreciated. :D

OK. I'm pretty much decided on an 2.6GHz i7 with 6GB of corsair triple channel RAM.

Definitely going with Asus for the board.

What benefits would I get from having the P6T Deluxe over the P6T SE, considering I'll be running a watercooling setup with only 1 graphics card?

Nothing - jut not quite grunty enough anymore. :p

769418 2009-04-29 09:27:00 All I can see is that the Deluxe has dual NICs and Drive expert plus 2 extra SATA ports and 2 less USB, and the Deluxe can support a maximum of 24GB of RAM, has 2 SAS ports and Marvell for SATA, eSATA, and PATA

With a single PCIE GFX card, get this then, cheapest:p

Otherwise if you want SLI later get the higher model.
